It has been a long time coming but Brendon Emmerson finally won the first race of his career today in the Epuyen Climbs.
Emmerson joined the OCM tour in the middle of season 11 when Alpha Plus first launched as a team. Emmerson started out as an amazing domestic for the team but over the last couple seasons he has taken on more and more of a leadership role.
Over this time Emmerson has had a number of points paying finishes including his only podium finish of 3rd in last season's El Limon GP but today was the first time he was able to break through that barrier and take the top spot on the stand.
"Today was me and my team's day. This win is not only important for me, but also for the team!" said Emmerson, referring to the fact that the team had not won a race since the departure of Sigmund Morrell just over a season ago.
"Our team has been putting up great numbers," said David, manager of Alpha Plus, "we have moved from the back of division 2 to right to to top and have been knocking on the door of division 1 for some time now. (Dwayne) Reiswig and (Jesus) Gasquilan along with Emmerson have been putting in some great rides with a number of podium finishes but we just couldn't seem to get back to winning until today!"
With today's win Emmerson now ranks 10th in USA tour points, joining teammate Reiswig in the top 10 who currently stands 3rd.
"We have big plans for this team," said David. "With some of our new additions and the focus we have put into training others like Emmerson, I think you are going to see some great things from this team in the near future. Today is just the beginning!"
